I have just binge read the following comics of the latest installment of the latest comic adaption of the quirky yet funny and action-packed cartoon that I grew up watching when I was a kid known as The Powerpuff Girls.
I have just read issues 1-4 as well as the Halloween Special. All issues were great and fun! I really enjoyed them and it brought back memories of me enjoying the original Powerpuff Girls show that I first watched and became a huge fan of when I was in 2nd grade over 20 years ago. I’d say it definitely captures the fun and art style of the original show as well maintaining the personalities of the three pint-sized super-heroic girls.
I loved the use of color and varied art style from issue to issue. I’m not one for Halloween in general but I found myself surprised in liking the Halloween Special issue, it has an interesting creative style to it both in writing and in visuals is all I’ll say without giving away any spoilers.
I bought the first issue of Powerpuff Girls a while back yet I also got the other comic issues today since they were all available to me. I’m glad I did buy them and I’m quite happy with my purchase!
And as for the art style overall from these comic issues, it is interesting how each issue seems to have a different artist, something that brings me back to the way things used to be for the old yet nostalgic Archie Sonic comics. Perhaps I’ll try to make my own style in drawing the girls and submit a portfolio to them in the future I hope. I know for sure that the original Powerpuff Girls cartoon created by Craig McCracken (I’m a huge fan of his other cartoons as well from over the years by the way) would be proud of this comic book rendition of his characters.
With that said, I can’t wait for the next issue of this series and I’m glad I bought them at my local comic shop, Gotham City Limit in Jacksonville, FL. Go check them out when you get the chance, awesome comic shop full of cool sequential art stories as well as other popculture merch. One of my favorite places to shop at! :)
That’s it for this review! Stay tuned for the next! And be sure to read my webcomic series called Let’s Go Now! as shown in the link below!
